H&S is as good as the people around you. Try to work alongside intelligent people and you can wear what you like.

Coast guards, H&S could costs lives:thumbsdown:

........... and save lives , those of the rescue crew , the first rule is not too put yourself in danger , plenty of people have been killed going in to save others and getting themselves hurt or killed in the process 🙁

agree to a point , however , it wont stop that stray piece of wind blown grit ending up scratching your eyeball if you dont wear LEP will it

If I worried about every eventuality through life I'd never get out of bed, H&S is mostly common sense

agreed , the problem is , too many people lack common sense , take the last week for instance , would you risk your life to save a few seconds by taking a chance in front of 10 tons of bus , do i hear no , well , i can g'tee you i have had at least 20 people take the chance in 1 week , and in front of a bus with 'L' plates on as well :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

had an induction on a large bovis site last year helmet, vis vest, gloves and goggles at all times . also told by the safty officer that bovis are thinking about bringing in luminus safty boots as a requirement ppe.and no it wasnt a joke .

Same as,Tommy, last year on Media City Mcr. goggles and wet cutters don't mix. We had more chance of falling off scaffold, due to being blind with slurry on goggles. Another thing was re-cycling, we had plastic tubs on wheels, you know the ones. there were white hats with clipboards going round taking people's names, If you were seen putting gypsum waste in a masonary tub, or timber in a paper tub etc. it was three strikes and off the job.

I don't know if this is true, but a labourer told us that at the end of the week, they took all the carefully seperated waste to the front of the site where a big rubbish truck proceeded to tip the whole lot in mixing all the contents together:yikes: I know HSE mean well but sometimes common sense should prevail. One more small rant, we all use the folding hop-ups. Guess what? they are banned. Yep we were working in small toilet rooms, 15m2 floor space, they insisted on tower scaffolds. We had to wait for accredited scaffolder's to arrive, then wait for them to do their thing. I really enjoyed limboing on to them with tools, tiles, adhesive etc.:mad2:
