Discuss Hallway - bi susbstrate issue in the UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Hi peeps, just a quick question to advise on the transition of floorboards to concrete.

What would you advise ?

Im thinking rip up the floor boards and ply with correct size, then Duralbase through the both rooms.

Any other options ?

cheers peeps.

PS the tiles are Henley Cool | Topps Tiles

Yes and I understand the need to rip the pee for my choice of employer but would you rather it be me there or some other numpty !!!! A job was needed as my rent is £850 a month before bills !!!

Things are looking up and progressing, my contacts book is growing, weirdly this job is for the woman who used to own the house im renting. She came in and I served them and as things progressed it came out she just sold the one i'm in !!!

Weird eh !

Not a huge difference time wise.
Save time by spraying your primer on the floor, and roll over with a paint roller, this is much quicker than applying it with a sponge etc.
Both methods ideally would need to be left overnight to cure properly even with rapid set.
The overboarding method i would say is a more secure system, but you introduce more height gain issues.

I would have to to keep the height levels the same.

Which method would you go with Dave ?

Remove floor boards and replace with ply (min22mm) if required slc screed section to that height, insert expansion joint and tile.. using correct adhesive for either side , if you want belt and braces approach then de-couple.
