Hi there! Came across this forum and damn I'm glad I did before setting out with my first job!
I had a leak around the bath which got behind the tiles on one wall and the whole lot came down. Underneath the tiles was a piece of plywood. It doesn't look like it was tanked or waterproofed in any way. Shoddy to say the least! I can't believe it lasted 15 years (when the flat was converted).
I have pulled the tiles down and removed the ply wood and I intend to put up the hardie backer instead. Patched up the other wall with one-coat plaster from wickes (thanks Dave, saw your post in another thread).
When I put the hardie backer up, what do I put on the edge that is going against the plaster? If that makes sense? On the narrow side of the bath will be the hardie and the long side the plaster. Do I use some high grade silicon?
Also, between the two sheets of hardie is there some special tape or anything I need or just silicon will do?
I bought two sheets of hardie backer and the guy said I can just use drywall screws to fix it but on the hardie site they have special screws (jewson didn't sell them which is strange). I think I will just search out the proper screws just in case.
Adv(Thanks)ance for your help guys.
