thanks dave wasnt aware of that, 6mm notched trowel is no good for this job as its an old property and the walls are all over the place ! hence why i was going to dab them, whats the max kg per m2 on bare plasterboard ? i was hoping to fix travertine 410 x300 to my shower area in my property that I`m renovating ,
thanks.

32 kg inc addy and grout.

Weigh a mtr of tiles and add 3 to 4 kg for adhesive and grout.

cheers Dave, also when I mentioned dabbing the hardibacker I was going to use drywall adhesive that plasteres use to dab boards as we all know how hard that sets and then add some additional screws...

I can only say what hardibacker passed onto me..I cannot say whether your method will be ok.. as the dry wall normally sticks to the paper lining of plasterboard and not cement boards..

The reason being it was'nt designed for the purpose, dry wall adhesive is for gypsum boards even certain metal systems.

You may get a reaction between the two materials which cause a failure if moisture penetrates the gypsum and cement.

Thanks for all your replies and info, due to the bare brick work been very uneven ( 120 yr old house ) so a full bed of adhesive is not possible, i think I will have to dab it out with plasterboard and then fit a homelux tanking kit ..
