Hardy backer 12mm. Is it possible to dot and dab using thickset adhesive?

you can use either backerboards or you can use plasterboard and tank it either way its fine but hardi dont advise dot and dabbing the boards

You only need to tank the area where the water will go, no need to do the whole bathroom
