Hi All,

I am having a nightmare!!! :mad2::mad2:

I have previously posted about a job I was looking to do myself / to have done in my brand spanking new kitchen where I said that in the end I was going to get a professional in to do the job as the kitchen looked that good.

Well the professional I hired is in my opinion is less of a professional and more of a bodge job rogue tiler.

Or am i just being overly picky which is what he said I was being; before i told him about the next bodge he had done and he took his stuff and left the job saying get someone else to do it.

In my humble opinion if you pay someone to do something it should be correct no matter if you pay £10 or £10000.

I won't point out what is wrong here, I will just post some pictures i took and i would appreciate it if you can feed back for me if its a bodge or if i'm being overly picky.

The single tile was laying on the kitchen floor this morning having fallen off the wall......

Thanks in advance lads will put my mind at ease.

Jon

I'm with Colour Republic on this. You can't expect a job to be the same with a massive price difference and I hope you just didn't go for the cheapest "tiler".

However with regards to the job, that's not good.
Slithers in corners
Not plumb
Dot and dabbing tiles

That's a person who has not only had no training, but they've not even be shown the ropes by a tiler on a job on site or whatever.

If they'd have even just read the forum, they'd have done a job much more appealing to the eye and to the standards.

I'm wondering what adhesive that is too. :-/

Sorry think you must of misinterpreted what i mean if you say that you are going to do a job and its x amount for the that to be done, then it should be done correctly irrespective of what x amount may be.

I got three quotes spoke to several people looked and recommendations and spoke to people prices ranged from £90 - £360 for 8sqm.

The original person i selected was member of this site and had good recommendations etc but couldn't complete the job when i required it doing.

I choose this chap that actually did the work as he had good reviews price wasn't cheapest or the most expensive £160 as i already had all the trims adhesive and grout etc and he was local as in lives two roads down from me, and the previous work he showed me looked like he knew what he was doing he was also an older chap that seemed to know what he was taking about seems he only knew how to talk a good job though.....

then you are in the wrong as you have to give the opportunity for the tiler to put the work right. what was his quote compared others was he the cheapest ??

Pointed out an issue of the tiles not being centered correctly to him he said i was over being over picky and took his stuff and told me to get someone else to do it i could do without the hassle of sorting his mess out!!

How am i in the wrong mate I did say that before in the original post and no he was not the cheapest or the second cheapest.

Maybe it is a case of wrong choice of 'tiler' then. But if he's dot and dabbing, he's not had training, or read the back of the tub!!!

Cheap Bostik is awful (they do some alright cements apparently though), so is green star, but green star is at least from a decent manufacturer.

I feel for you.

I'd ask the 'tiler' to come back and sort the job out as Deano says. Else you're doing wrong withholding payment.

OK didn't read your post fully. pop them off and put them in water over night and the adhesive will come off no problem then you can re use the full ones.
