Hi Everyone,

I'll be starting out in the tiling business very soon in and around the north west of Manchester.

Just a few of questions that hopefully someone will be able to help me with:

1. I've decided to complete a 4 week course at PTS in Warrington, is this a good option, if not why not and what would be a better option?

2. What type of van would be best, i'am looking at a Vito or a Vdub Transporter T30, although they wo'nt be new i want value for money.

3. All in all i've got about 10 grand to set myself up, thats a course, van, tools, stationary and anything else that i might need.

Any feedback will be very helpfull.....

Many Thanks.

Dave.

Hello and welcome Big Dave, prsonally I would attend the course before you commit to buying any tools.....best of luck....Gaz

Hello Dave, welcome to the forums...

If you have not already been to pts for a look around, go and talk to them, I went there and thought it was worth it. There is a lot of course infomation in the courses feedback section of the forum.http://www.tilersforums.com/tiling-courses/

As Gaz says, get on the course before investing in tools and a van, tiling may not be for you..good luck..Mark.

that's where I got my van from, came direct from the R.A.F, low milage, mint condition full service history and all for a bargain price..

Welcome mate. Have to agree with everyone else so far go and visit the training centre for piece of mind, do the course then buy your tools etc. It cost me about £8k to set up so far so you have plenty of capital for your start up depending on what your needs want.

you dont need as much as 10k to set up but it is a handy amount ,welcome to the forums...also take the advice from gaz and do the course first and read up on starter kits on this forum ..this will lead you in the right direction:8:

Hi Big Dave, welcome to the forums. I did my training at PTS Warrington. I was up and running for around £5k including course, travel, accommodation, tools and stationery. I didn't invest in a van as I use my estate car. Don't spend money if it is not required. Keep the surplus funds in the bank if you can. If this is to be your main income, it will take time to get established and build regular income. This is when the suprlus funds come in very handy. Good luck and enjoy the course.

Grumpy
