I'm new to the forum & find it very interesting & informative. Been tiling now for 20 months & learn something new on each job.

I'm about to quote for several bathrooms in a brand new apartment block. The building contractor (who happens to be a distant relative) has already bought the materials. I normally quote a price inc. materials, but am unsure what to quote for labour only. As I'm fairly new to tiling I'm not the fastest, so I feel it's difficult to quote by the day. The job is approx. 15-20 miles away, so would you add travelling into the price too!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

im fairly new to tiling also so am sure the pro's in ehre can help out more. For this i would probably work out a day rate of £130 - £160 a day. thats just me am sure othere with more experience may charge more

Came from an Engineering background & after being made redundant 4 times, decided it was time for a change and decided to retrain. Trained at PTS in Warrington & although work was slow to start, I've been pretty steady since April 07. I'm not the fastest tiler & I'm hoping in time this will change, but I make sure I do a good job.

I Would say the same thing anything upwards of £20m2 or £160-£180 a day I would put something on for Travel as well.

Welcome to the forum.

If you do stick fuel/driving time in the price make sure you just add it to the per meter / day rate price and don't give them an itemised bill for that. Might seem cheeky to charge them for it although you clearly need to and would on all jobs in a way as it's a running cost for the business.
