Help - mother in law used shower before the grout had gone off

I was feeling very proud that I'd managed to regrout my wet-room shower all on my own. It's my first major DIY project. I applied the grout and was waiting the seven days specified on the tub before applying grout haze remover and then sealant. However, after three days in my elderly mother-in-law forgot she wasn't supposed to use the shower..... it ran for around 10 minutes before we managed to get her to stop (deaf as well as forgetful!). It looks ok, but I do think that a tiny layer of the grout in the immediate area beneath the shower flow might have washed off - it's no longer as flush as the outer edges. Do you think it would be ok to apply a new thin layer of grout over the top (almost skim the affected area), am I going to have to bite the bullet and dig it out and start again??

Hi Andy It was Unibond, High Strength Floor adhesive and grout. On the tub, it says you can walk on it after 48 hours and that it's waterproof after 7 days

Sorry to be brutal but it's absolute rubbish!
It's not waterproof at all - ever.
The only grout which is waterproof is epoxy and that is not a diy job.

I'd suggest you scrape out as much as you can, and clean up well.
Now that it is wet it will likely never go off (and it's rubbish anyway!)

Then get a proper cement-based grout like Mapei Ultracolor plus / BAL Micromax2 or Tilemaster grout 3000.
These will be ready for use after 24hrs.

Can't say I'm a great fan of any ready mixed grout, and I expect the rest of the tilers feel the same.
If it's not used as per instructions then I would say it's doomed to fail.
A powered grout would be a better option, it would be rock hard after 24 hours...

@impish i don’t think you can run a wet room shower after 24 hours, especially with grout 3000! It’s 3 days for showers and 2 weeks for swimming pools:

I know. The longer the better - especially with 3000 but in reality they are nearly always used after 24hrs and I have yet to see any issues with the 3 I mentioned after 24hrs.
Good and correct point though!
