I'm tiling a bathroom put a new bath panel which is a new piece of ply. I gave it 2 coats of BAL SBR BONDING before tiling using blue star. When i went back the next day i touched one of the tiles & it just fell off. I was horrified & was really wooried all the rest will fall off very soon. What did i do wrong? I'm having to use no more nails now.

Can anyone help me please?

use mosaic fix for them...or white star...in future backerboard is better than plywood.....Gaz
BAL Mosaic-Fix Tile Adhesive
mosaic_fix.jpg
A bright white, non-slip, water and frost-resistant, cementitious wall and floor tile adhesive specially formulated for fixing mosaic tiles including glass mosaics. It is also suitable for fixing ceramic wall and floor tiles, metal or glass tiles, marble, terrazzo, and natural stone in interior and exterior locations. Suitable for use in swimming pools. Can be used on most surfaces including MDF (in internal dry areas).

Never heard of Bal Bond or Blue Star
When tiling onto plywood I always use Mapei Kerraquick - cementious flexible adhesive. Never prime. Never fall off. You shouldnt need to prime plywood if using flexi - think that is your problem

balbond sbr aids in the adhesion process..it is the blue star or the tile type to blame here....me thinks..

exactly gazza................white star is good for ply on walls etc...but if its porcelain then switch to powdered flexi gear.spf...

A good tiler will always make sure that he is familiar with the products that he uses and their limitations. All manufacturers supply technical specifications for their products. Most manufacturers have a technical helpline if unsure.
