just about to board out a bathroom next week. i have worked out a price 3.2 m2. ply onto t and g flooring £100 labour plus mats. should do in a day easy (new) 12ml or 18ml ply????. cust supplying tiles. me adh making £20 also. does this seem fair? sink and toilet coming out with just pipes left.. i know about screwing the ply down etc... how do i go around pipes etc ??? do i cut it out square and put a piece in at the back .. and do i just put the ply under the bath a few inches or upto the bath panel??? if i put it under the bath panel would it be better to tell the plumber to higher the bath up an inch when fitting as he thinks i am going to be using 6mm ply....dont think so? do you ??? also went into ctd today and he was trying to talk me into using hardibacker board and i told him the floor was not very good,,, can i still put this down i am not 100% convinced////?????? sorry for the long post but i am sure once this job is finished that is about 10 questions answered and only a million more to get my head around

100 for plying out a 3.2m2 floor is good money if you can get it,i would have charged around50.with the ady use flexi rapidset and flexi grout,20 on materials on a floor that size is good profit, one bag of ady should be enough.10kg.Use a whole cutter for drilling hole around rads and then saw the piece of wood out and put behind pipe.PLY JUST UNDER THE BATH and get plumber to raise bath if not you will probably need to cut the panel .All the best.

I use hardie backer, ensure the floor board's are sound and not loose if they are secure. Put a bed of flexable ahesive onto the floor board's then lay 6mm backer boards (10mm is supposed to be the minimum for adhesive guarantee). I use 25mm turbo screws from screwfix with about 6-8 per board Then scrim the joint's wiping flexi addy into the joints. Then lay tile's.

the hundred quid was for fitting the tiles and the ply. on top was £30 quid for adh ?10 for grout plus cost of ply ontop.... is 12ml ok
connors thats a good 140 profit for one days work which is good when starting out,i thought you charged 100 for plying out m8 so sorry for any confusion.

Yes use 12mm exterior ply and screw down every 300mm with 25mmturbo screws which you can buy at screwfix m8.

do you bother using the tape that u are supposedto use
i cant see them making much difference also can i just use one board for small bog or would i have to brick bond as advised

It bond's the joint's together and allow's a bit of flexi, and yes use one board if you can, no problem

My local CTD only sells Wedi unless that has changed recently which is possible as it has moved to new premises. My understanding of using 6mm hardibacker over T+G florboards is that the substrate should have hardly any deflection so may have to be plyed first which sort of defeats the point, best to check this out with Hardie first though. I tend to opt for 12mm+ply depending on the tile size and substrate or aquapanel fixed with spf and screwed.
