Hi People,

I'm seriously considering moving into full-time tiling...

How are things out there (honestly..) ?

Is there work ? Is anyone having trouble finding it ?

Thanks to any 'respondents' for their time !

Simon

Hello simon....

Some are ok for work but a lot are not....it's not easy times out there simon...so think carefully before giving anything up to go full time..

Hi Simon & :welcome: to the forum.

Things are improving but still not perfect. Do you have any others trades to fill in the gaps?? Does help:thumbsup:

Thanks Guys,

I do have to consider carefully, as I have a (fairly healthy) mortgage to cover....

I have a number of other skills, plastering, rendering, a bit of plumbing...etc....but only in a minor way, not really enough to offer as a job...

But, I DO have an ulterior motive, in that I've been offered a job in Australia (from a family member, so will be held open), but in order to meet the criteria, I have to have 'evidence' to prove my skills...without that, my understanding is, I don't stand an earthly....

Mmm,
Its your call but study the criteria carefully and get a recognised qualification to go witht he experience you need.
For me your first priority is your 'healthy morgtage'. If you can cover it while tiling go for it. As the guys say its a tougher market just now.

Good luck

:welcome: to the forum :guitarist: hope it works out... whatever you decide. Best of luck.

market is slow for now if you are good you will find work and build a rep lots of cowboys running around getting pretty desperate the have just ran out of places to run.love it:welcome:

There isnt the work about at the moment well not like it was 1 to 2 yrs ago i would hang fire until it picks up , bear in mind that when it does pick up the competition will be tough and in my opinion earnings will be less even if you were tiling 5-6 days a week .

Hi, and welcome. My advise would be don't go it alone at the moment, with no experience and reputation you would struggle to make 'ends meat'
Theres plenty of work out there but only for established fixers at the moment. Remember you will be competing for work with struggling plumbers, builders and 'cowboys'

Good luck! what ever you decide:thumbsup:
