hi all. have been checking out the site for a couple of months now and have found it very useful. i recently finished a 6 week course at able skills and have picked up a few jobs from friends and family(all pleased with the work i ve done so far as i'm i). my question is how do i go about getting on a new build housing site,who is best to contact.

Hi mate welcome to the forum . Go onto building sites and ask to see the site foreman and have a chat to him, but dont say you have only just started tiling.

i did the 6 week ica course which included health and safety to gain us our cscs card. it was a good course and met some top blokes whom i hope to remain friends with. the guys running it were great and very helpful. only down side to this course was there was a lot of classroom work and i have would have liked more practical training but i understand giving the timescale why this was not possible. the course in my opinion should be 8 weeks but it would cost more and 8 weeks of not earning!but so far i havent come up against anything i couldnt cope with. i ve learned a hell of a lot from reading the threads of this site but as they say practice makes perfect. i ve started work on friends and family jobs and so far everyone has been really happy with my work (as am i). need to get speed up but i'm more concerned in producing a good job. just landed my first job outside friends and family which i start monday and have 2 more to quote this week.
