Hi,

Stumbled upon this forum via google, what a great source of info!

Anyway, my names Bill, from South London, I'm a Building Surveyor for a local authority but am keen to get my hands dirty in a practical way.

Am just completing a 3 year part time course in Bench Joinary and according to the missus now I've built all the new kitchen units it's time to learn how to tile!
With that in mind she's just ordered 400 tiles for me to fix to the wall :whatchutalkingabout

Ok, so here's my first (of many) question for you...

How much would you recommend I spend on an electric tile cutter? particularly if I decide to progress to trying to earn a living out of it?

They seem to start at £30 and if I was just limiting things to my own kitchen I'd imagine that would be up to the job. I'm fairly certain I'll want to move on to bigger and better things, if I'm building kitchens it'll probably be to my advantage to be able to tile too.

So if anyone could recommend me a decent cutter that won't cost the earth it would be much appreciated!

thanks

Bill

hello bill

Welcome to the tilers forums

The plas plugs contractor plus seems to be a popular one believe it is £49.99

Nice all round machine i have been told but never used one

All the best

Hi there bill.

Generally you'll find many people have a couple of cutters, wet and dry, sometimes more, like a small £30 wet cutter for the small kitchen and bathroom tiles, and something like in my case a Master Tiler £80 for the bigger porcelain tiles etc.

Hi Bill and welcome.
The large Plasplugs machine will see you through most tiles. Its a great machine and a good price of £79 at www.toolstation.com and i believe that is free delivery

Hi bill, welcome to the forums...I have the plasplugs contractor - £60 from b&q and also have the smaller plasplugs - £29.99 from b&q
