Wine is easy..

Banelda is a nice one,, Banna and elderberry.. lovely deep red and blows ya socks off..

We once made some from Small pears grown on the inlaws farm and tins of mixed fruit..and a jar of mead miced in the brew..

Came out a yellowish colour was was very very strong.. i nicked named it paraplegic juice.. coz it took ya legs off ya..

2 tumblers was usually enough to kill of any triers..

Both my oldies used to brew their own, my Dad was larger, looked and tasted like crap but what a kick :drool5:

Mother on the other hand went into the more 'exotic' carrot whiskey, potato something or another ... you get the point :D

Now here's a story, pray to all your gods that she never reads this coz she'll kill me lol.

She had made one of her concoction brandy's and decided to pickle, or whatever the term is, some strawberries in the brandy, filled a large jar with some strawbs, topped up with home made brandy and left in the larder, ( they lived in a farmhouse ) anywho, some months later, Mother was going through her jars and found the jar of stawbs, now devoid of liquid, aw shame she said, the brandy has evaporated, you know what's coming, over the course of the day, going about her housework she was tucking into the fruit. Well, Father came home from work about 17.30 to find Mother out for the count on the kitchen floor, worse for wear  When she sobered up next day, he had to explain what had happened..... and why, evaporating alcohol

Sorry to waffle, but it was funny, and true stories like this are one in a million, unless you know better ;)

Made beer and wine in the past and also tasted other peoples, quality ranged from good to awful. Also tried home distilled spirits when working in Norway. Like everything else it takes a bit of practice and you may have to try different recipes to find something that suits you.

Any easy start for wine is to buy the concentrated grape juice specially produced for wine making. It usually produces quite a palatable plonk.

With beer you can play around with the sugar content to push up the alcohol level but don't go to heavy handed like I did once. Got everybody totally bladdered at a party once by serving pints of wine strength beer made from a bitter kit.

Give it ago and enjoy.
