Homelux tanking on a roll- How high do I go?

Hi,

Still tiling a bathroom in 600x300 12mm thick copper honed slate tiles.
In the shower area I have put up some of the Homelux on a roll stuff on the two shower walls...Its only a metre high, I know some tanking kits say thats all that is needed, but do you think I should put another piece on top to make it 2mts high all around the two walls just to make sure?
Also the weight of the tiles will not pull it down from the wall, will it?
I have bedded it in nicely and it seems solid enough.
Hope you can help.
Cheers.
Vinnie.

What adhesive have you used to fix the membrane ?
As for the 1m2 high thing , i dont understand ? doesnt it come on rolls 1m wide ? I would go to just above showerhead height.

I have used a waterproof rapid set adhesive from Topps, the roll is 1 mtr wide and I have just gone around two walls with that width at the moment.
Thanks
Vin

Architects love that 1.2 measurement, they always stipulate the same in a commercial shower room :mad2: I would be putting it in above the shower head as Neale says.

Flexible ?
I use tape in the corners so i would have used the roll upwards in 3x 2m high lengths awith corners taped due to movement this tape has an elasticated section.

Thanks,
Ok, think I will put another mtr in height all around, or just above the shower head then to be safe, I didnt use flexible addy, could that be a problem?
Vin

I am sure it should be flexible as the membrane is flexible. Its the way i have always done it anyway. What size trowel are you using to fix the membrane ? and when you apply the other membrane remember to overlap the previous membrane.

It says to use a 4-6mm trowel I used a 6mm then pressed it down hard to get all the air out.

Do you think it will take the weight of the tile ok when its shower head height?
Thanks.

Using a SPF adhesive there would be no problem. i do have concerns that you have used a non flexi adhesive though.
A 4mm trowel would have been sufficient but 6 mm will do. I would opt for 4 mm next time though and mix the adhesive a touch wetter
