How far booked up?

Following on from the other thread, how far are we all booked up on average? 2 weeks? 6 months?

About 4 weeks here myself at present but sometimes can be 2 weeks when slack or could be 6 weeks when busy, although any longer than 3-4 weeks and new customers don't want to wait any longer and go for someone who can do the job yesterday. A bit frustrating as 8 times out of 10, a customer only seems to ring a tiler after the plumber has fitted the shower tray and expects the tiler to do it straight away. What's it like where you are?

Sounds familiar Peter, at the moment about 6 weeks to 2 months if they will wait.

I reckon with these 5 houses and some other bits I've got booked, I'm good until Christmas now. I pulled my advert out of the local parish magazine for the rest of the year on Monday, I can't see me being able to take on anything new until December at the earliest. Good times.

I'm on a daywork rate at the moment and the job seems to have no ending, pulling off for next week for another job so looking at a good few weeks.

At the moment 12 months, on the big contracts, then I slot the medium and small ones in between...and panic when they all come crashing in together.

and what happens when something ***** up,when you are all so far advanced with the workload?

I'm booked up till Christmas and then I'm back project managing full time as of January but still doing all the bathrooms and kitchens on the sites I'm managing. As for things getting behind that's just life I'm running 3 weeks behind at the moment I just keep everybody up to date and move things about without upsetting anyone.

Use weekends as a buffer, I don't like working them but, sometimes it's needed if jobs run over a little.

im no more than a couple of weeks booked in at a time.....don't mind that, as I find it less stress full

im with you on that one andy allen ,two to three weeks does for me ,to much hastle with any more than that,also i find that no body ever wants to wait for the tiler they want it done last week type of thing,or is it different elsewhere?

yep thats what i find also,so i dont know how theese others do it to be quite honest

booked till 1st october atm which im happy with racked up 340 hours work in july which was no fun but when the works there i take it as i know it can go the other way just as quick
