How is work in your area...

Hows work in your area? I have 3 builders who are key players in my area all three price the same top end jobs and i work for all three of them...and there is one more company who i dont tile for that have approached me to tile for them, and i have agreed...So now i have the full set...win win situation for me :hurray: and they are all really busy..Had to pass two nice jobs onto another tiler today :mad2: as i just cant fit it all in.

Good news Andrew..

At present the work situation for my comp is good..

I am now booked to end november.. so just a few weeks to book in left and thats it till xmas..

What next year will be like after the Vat increase... who knows.. but for now.. make hay whilst the sun shines as they say..

we are starting a brand new hotel swimming pool on monday full render/tile, i might see if the builders want any other tiling done when we start!!, then we are off to render/tile another for this chain after!! so OK at the mo!!

good to here your busy! only done domestic work till now but been approached by local developer got 2 new builds 3500sq ft to do oct-nov sorted domestic is still hit and miss at the minute but hopefully being in with this developer it will fill the gaps from the domestic!

very quite down this way, not just me but the builders, plumbers ect all very quite, im just about ticking over, no more than 2/3 weeks booked up, its been like this all year not very good at all.

2 to 3 weeks is pretty good for most Andy.. some we hear of have only days booked in and some nothing.. so fingers crossed mate you continue like that.. in fact fingers crossed for all of us.

I'm getting work week ny week, but its coming in. As a sole trader I'm happy with that, but it does make me feel on tender hooks at times!

Luckily there seems to be a never ending stream of money in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. I'm booked up till christmas and quoting for work in Jan n Feb already. The architect's and surveyor's that i get most of my recommendations from, say things are going quite well, with their respected businesses on the increase too.

One thing i have noticed, is the customers attitude when quoting for their work. They seem much more clued up on what they want, and want to know where every single penny is going. I'm having to supply a much more detailed schedule of works and bigger breakdown of the cost's involved.

I'm pleased to say that there are not enough days in the week at the moment. I'm struggling to keep on top of my workload and it's starting to stress me out :incazzato:.

I've turned down 2 chances to quote this week because the customers can't wait 8 weeks :mad2:.

i'm back on oct 4th but the flats i am on will take me upto end of oct....i have had a few emails for quotes so it could have been alot worse for me seeing that i have done an about turn...my website always seems to generate high end work so thats doing its job!

i have a few plans to expand the tiling next spring to do exterior work ie driveways and paving, so as one door shut trapping my fingers lol, i am already thinking about the future and opening another aread for the stone work.

Very buisy having to turn work away at the mo as i cant fitt them in before xmas got some large jobs on the go and lots of small domestic ones too. Ive got one other working for me too so as to get them done quicker.
The quality of the work to be done is getting better too and the work is more local so not having to travel so far either, so all is good this way, well at the moment anyhows. dont know how it will be next year fingers crossed!!
