how long does the ufh have to be off for after tiling? it's piped ufh under screed and been down for months. the heating has been on and tested, working fine. starting the floor in the morning. thanks in advance

i was thinking around that. i think the customers may not want to wait that long tho. im doing the main part of the downstairs but all the ufh pipes are running though it into the utility/manifold area so the whole house will have to stay off too i guess.

true. i'll tell them and hope they take heed. they're really hard tiles to cut, i dont fancy doing them again!

As long as it takes to bank the cheque without being recalled, so it all depends on who you bank with, 14 days normally but i always say 28

Best to read the packaging for your adhesive - for example WEBBER : Keep the warming system turned of for at least 5 days to allow the cement to cure. Bring the system up to its operating temperature gradually in stages of 5degrees/day.

When you first turn it on, find the current floor temperature and simply increase it 1 or 2 degrees right then. And then each day tell your customer to turn it up another couple of degrees. You do this until it's hit a high running temperature and then bring it down the same way.

Never had a problem with a floor doing that. I even used to pinch the fuse out so I knew they wouldn't have been messing with it (well, in most cases) and then pop back and stick it in myself on the first day and let them carry on with the rest. I'd usually leave it a couple of weeks in most cases to be honest.

The 5 degrees daily increase is stated on the Webber tiling solutions information file for wet underfloor heating systems as per this case.
On electric UFH I also would agree with Dan and increase the temperature by 1/2 degrees per day.

Plenty of UFH problems in this weather - still only 25degrees F here in Newcastle - will have to put my vest on soon.
