Hi all. I am installing a new kitchen in my home and am currently trying to adjust the height of my cupboard units.

I will be tiling the floor after installing the cupboards so will not be covering the whole floor, just upto and underneath the edges of the kick boards around the bases of the cupboards. I therefor need to allow enough space for the tiles and adhesive when adjusting the cupbaords to fit the kickboards.

Could somebody tell me what thickness to allow for the adhesive?

Can only really give you an approximation - because a lot depends on how flat the whole floor is and whether you will have to build up anywhere.
For floor tiling I would use a 8mm trowel depth with a flat back spread of 2mm on the tile to provide a solid bed fix method of tiling advised for floors. By the time the tile is bedded into the adhesive this may well be as little as 6/8mm in height. To add a floor tile from 8-12mm, this will give you a variation of between 14-20mm and this is the advice I would provide to kitchen companies for the additional height required when they set up base units.
Just a note when the plinths are cut - make sure the bottom edge is sealed and not an open wood grain as the mopping action will result in the wood 'blowing'.

My kitchen fitter just sets the legs to 150mm and then trim plinths to suit....decor panels can be left off and cut to fit after tiling or if the base end panel is fixed then just cut around them and Silicon finish..

Because unless you are 100% sure the floor is flat then your estimated finish height might not be that as you might pack a few tiles up...
