Guys,
I´ve put a wood grain Porcelain tile floor in one room and grouted it.
The product range was limited with the samles of WEBER.
To cut this story shorter the grout is too light. The colour I would have gone for I was told was not suitable for 2mm only larger.
Until now I have come to accept grouts, but I do think a darker grout will be much better.
I have 60M2 to do later in another bedroom and open lounge and need to investigate and pick the brains of you guys my options. The way grout will stain with spills, I am sure there must be a way without digging any out:helpsmilie:
I used 2mm spacers and the creamy colour makes the wood effect look too much like ceramic tiles, not the wood effect I believe a darker one would do. Hope that makes sense.

Never used it myself but I think Aquamix do a grout colourant you may be able to try.

As for the remaining rooms, can't you choose a grout with a greater colour range, like Mapei Ultracolour Plus??

With regard to spills and stains etc, you can use a grout sealer like SealGuard which will prevent spills from staining your grout in future.

Incidentally, the 2mm grout lines sound a bit small for a floor....

Hope this helps

you can proberbly get it out with a fein multli master, But at 60 square metres..if you asked me to do it i would politly refuse!!!
not to mention that there is a possibility of chipping the tiles!!!

you can test if its going to be really hard work by using a handtool grout rake, if the grout was a flexi grout...the tougher the job will be!

sometimes its better to accecpt your mistakes, and move on...

best wishes

Dagger!

Thanks for the pointers.
I think I may have confused you?
I only did one bedroom and still have the rest of the place to do. The rest is about 60M2.

I agree with living with mistakes, but as I wrote its usualy a case of one room and having to. As I have one more bedroom and a large living area I would like to get those right next time and try to alter the one done.

I must say for Porcelain wood effect, the 2mm was a bit too big. Usually the floors in Spain in similar style have next to no grout and look more real. This floor I did makes it look like ceramic and not so real.

actually 2mm was perfect!! (otherwise there may be problems),
the grout you want to get is mapei ultracolour (26 colours)
2mm - 20mm joins are fine with this grout!
raking out 1 room is worth doing!!

british standards are 5mm floor joins and 3mm wall joins.....i think!

and i have just noticed you are in spain!! so bs means nothing....hehe

Thats good news. I shall wait and check out any more replies and go from there.

I have looked at many Porcelain floors with the wood effect and I do think the very thin grouting looks better. My tiles are 600 x 300 and not as good as the longer thinner type.

Anyway, the floor looked good when the grout was wet and darker (as it always is), so we know what we want. It would be good to get the rest right and perhaps change the bedroom an easier way that raking it out.

If it was all grouted then you could have used a colourant..

I would rake out what you have grouted and then use the same colour that you prefer on the whole floor.

Sorry to hear that Weber didn't have the colour you wanted...but you will find mapei have an excellent colour range..and perfect for those smaller joints.

Not quite sure what you mean there Dave.
I have three rooms, two beds and an open plan living area.
All three rooms sepearted by a door and S/S strip.

With one b/room done I can leave it and can change it.
Are you saying I can use a colourant to change the grout without raking it out. If so, better to try that and then I still have the option to rake it out.
That was the point of my thread, can I do something remedial.
The other areas will be done with another choice of grout for sure.
