Not sure if I'm losing the plot but I'm struggling to price a pretty simple job!
Customer wants a bathroom re-tiling, so;

Remove bathroom suit (corner bath, loo, pedestal basin)
Remove tiles (approx 12sqm ceramic 20x25cm)
Replace rotten floor boards (loo has been leaking) 4sqm
re-tile 4 walls (approx 18sqm with 15x15cm ceramic)
tile bathroom floor (approx 4sqm with 30x30cm ceramic - diamond-wise)
re-fit bathroom suite

also:
remove tiles from Kitchen floor (approx 6sqm teracotta 15x15cm)
re-tile (6sqm ceramic 30x30)

(and remove all waste from site - inc' old smelly floor)

It would be me on my lonesome doing the job, estimate 3 days including week-end!
I've estimated already at around £850 - all mats inc' new floor and tiles supplied BUT.... a day rate of £150 plus materials means approx £600 but that just seems to cheap - is it me? Am I getting greedy:wub:
She nearly fell off her chair! - i've a feeling I may be wasting my time with this one - what do you reckon? :martini_shaken:

I actually think you've gone in a little cheap at £850 considering the prep work + the plumbing..
I know i'm not speedy gonzales but.... 3 days? do you wear your undies on the outside?

just to let you know my sister and her hubby are having a bathroom refit done right now... the squad (3) are going to be there for approx 2 weeks, new boards cause the bath was leaking and new suite, old tiles to be removed and new ones installed, (she didn't ask me, I must be sh**e!!),new plasterboard all round including the cieling at the bargain price of.........£6500......so yes I do think it's too cheap for the amount of work your taking on!!

1) do not remove bath
2)do not take waste away you need a waste licence to remove waste and it could cost you up to £1000 fine
3) it will take you more than 3 days
4) when removing old tiles make sure they know that the walls may be damaged and it will cost to repair
5 ) i get the price to £1000 inc adhesive, grout,and trim

Good, thanks guys! It's only a small bathroom and its a btl landlady - you know how it goes, not intereted in quality, just initial appearance and cost.

Have done similar work before and it can be done in 3 days IF the walls stay pretty clean IF the floor goes down as easily as it comes up and IF the plumbing is in good shape to begin with.

Going to stick with my original estimate and insist on extra for waste removal as well as decent quality tiles - I don't want the job really - It will be a pain and trying to squeeze it in between jobs always seems to go wrong anyway.

OH STUFF IT - I'm trusting my instincts and walking away from this one now!!

best of luck with that one mate let us know how it goes, I'll be thinking of you when I'm on ma fifth can on the friday night with another six or so with my name on!!.....Scott....

I don't doubt your skills and ability... personally i know i'd never get it done in 3 days🙂
best of luck mate.

Thanks for the advice - really appreciated.

Out of interest? Why not remove the bath? I always have since damaging with falling tiles! I find it easier, quicker (or as quick as padding and protecting thoroughly) and safer to pull the bath out of the room.

if you don't really want the job...overload it on price and then if you do get it it will be worthwhile..if you don't because your too expensive...then it's nothing lost..Mark.

I would be carefull of over pricing jobs to try and put customers off, it can damage your reputation as much as anything else...

"Don't get him, he quoted me £XXXX just to do my little bathroom. I got this fella in and he did it for half the price and it's a great job, get him instead."

Thats the kind of word of mouth you don't need.

My advice would be if you don't want the job say you are too busy or that you have just landed a big contract since you quoted the job and are now unable to carry out the job.

If your able to do that amount of work in 3 days, and charged say £150 per day labour only and your happy with that amount, then I honestly think you have just sunk 99% of your competition as I cannot see anyone coming anywhere close to you on price, and frankly should keep you very busy in the long run from recommendations.

IMO..all work is good work...if it's a little cheap ,it's better than sitting at home wondering who is cashing in.....Gaz

My view exactly, well it wasn't at the start.
At first I was going in and estimating over what I was really happy with being payed for a job, but now I stick to my rates, not expensive but not dirt cheap either, and If it means I make nothing on materials but am still getting my sqm rate then happy days, and Im probably undercutting others who have a similar rate but want to make on mats too.

i would be looking £1000 - £1200
always thought main land was getting slightly more than us on pricing.
