wife and I have Iphone 4 with different networks, one Orange and one O2 and I have to say they're both the same for our area. Had the O2 for 3 years without any problems and Orange for a few months as they had a better deal when I upgraded second phone. If your worried about the signal strength in general that was reported when it came out, I haven't noticed any difference between iPhone 4 and 3G.
going by this link mate i would go with T mobile/orange combined network........im on Tmobile (not got iphone yet) upgrade is march and hoping to get one myself! not had to much trouble around uk with the signalsJust checked with this and O2 seems to stronger..
Direct Mobile Phones : Check coverage maps for Orange O2 Vodafone Three 3 T-Mobile mobile network coverage in your area.
i got smart phone now dave and you can use both networks, you do need to turn on roaming thou, but remember to turn it off if you go abroad or you get charged very high pricesI do know that Orange and T/mobile have merged.. but not on smart phones i think..
