Hi there,

I've had a lot of help from you guys with regards to a large amount of pinholes in my newly installed bathroom grout - thank you. Today, I've noticed another problem that I would like to understand better and I would appreciate your input.

I have noticed that the grout directly above the bead of Silicon around my bathtub is always wet (while the rest is dry by the morning after the shower was used). My suspicion is that the Silicon has not been installed correctly. It's hard to photograph but the installer pressed it in too much against the grout and the bead is therefore not a single smooth line but a series of dips over the grout lines (see photos). Am I right thinking that this is causing the water to pool at the bottom of the grout lines and does this need to be rectified asap?

Background info: the bathroom was remodelled completely just a month ago by someone who claims to be a specialist bathroom contractor.

It's hard to say from those pictures, but it looks like a slight film of Silicon above main bead of Silicon in joints ,which won't help , but also it will be the last place to dry as it is the most attacked area from water running down and also at splash height from falling water ! Is room well ventilated and is shower used alot ?

Hi, thank you for your input. Yes, I have a high end extractor fan that extracts the air through a roof vent and the window is often opened too. The shower is used 2 times a day on average.

I will try to take a better photo to capture those dip in the line of Silicon that I was talking about, it's not easy to photograph but I will try.
