you don't sign in for a coiuple of weeks and everything turns green.:prrr:

What i want to talk about is a national standard. is there one? is there a proper level of qualification that one has to attain before one can call ones self a professional tiler?
I never heard of it, i just went tiling with some old bloke until i could afford to buy my own tools and an eastate car.

can any body in britain who owns has a tile cutter call his or herself a tiler?

is there a professional tilers guild?, if so i would like to join it, and put their stamp of approval on my paperwork and my van.

every other trade i can think of has a standard of qualification that a person must meet before they can say they are professional!

would you hire a plunber to fit your gas boiler that was't corgi registered, would you hire a sparkie that didn't have the correct qualifications?

i think it would be a good way of weeding out the cowboys and keeping the honest trades men in business, ... there are too many dodgy 'have a go cowboys' and 'handymen' undercutting good tilers!

please let me know if i am barking mad, or if i have completely missed out on some vital piece of information?

theres good "tilers" out there who haven't served a day of there time at all!
personally i learned through a course and teaching myself, and have been told by 2 kitchen firms that i've left better work than several so called time-served tilers, albeit there willl be many have-a-go "tilers" out there ruining it for many who love the job and are willing to leave customers houses with a respectable job behind them and there head held high:thumbsup:
