It sets a line across the floor you so can use it to square the room by measuring diagonally from the corners to the centre line

What setting is that on then mate?

So it does right angles on the floor

press on button and it gives you a self levelled horizontal line
press again and it gives a vertical line
press again and it gives horizontal and vertical line
last setting locks the horizontal and vertical planes so it can be angled to the floor for setting out

if you go to option 4 on the pls180, then it projects a cross..
it stays in position even if you point it as the ceiling or floor whatever. its a pemanent beam, so, if you point it down at the floor, you will have a red cross that spans across the floor area this is without doubt the best little laser on the market for the price. i have had a dewalr and a laser liner and they are not as versatile or as compact as this and dont forget, pls only make laser levels, they are specialists in this field and they are not sealed units so if you drop them, they can be opened up and recalibrated by topcon

no mate the dewalt is fine for tiling, its just theres a bit more capabilities with the pls180 thats all it will be more than adequate for plumb and level....anyway, if you dont like it, theres a 30 day return policy with dewalt if you dont like it for any reason and they wont return it, pm and i'll give a guy from dewalt a call and get it sorted for you mate ...
