laying out issue...

Iwould just tile as normal, just making sure the tile was at the right angle, point towards the direction the customer wantred it to be.

Point to point, no, flat edge to flat edge yes, like normal.

I think that would make more sense and almost certainly be easier. I suppose with diamond pattern I always worry about where the tiles meet the walls. its easier to see if the walls or the tiling isn't straight.

Nice pic pete..shows how to square off properly...it also might be worth advising the customer to put a half tile effect border around the rooms perimeter and then cut the 45dg diamond to this..it looks better...creates a picture frame effect...but its up to the customer really....
Yes Dave always advise that looks much better full i/2 tiles if posible a hehe thats its Sir you got it lol

Bare in mind it will take longer doing diamond set due to the cuts,I use a rubi angle finder comes in very handy.

When you guys mark out a gauge rod, do you mark it corner to corner inc spacers and check the floor lay-out width & length ways or do you just do a dry lay to check the outter cuts?

i put my chalk line down then 90 deg line then use a tape as you would a staff rod to check the cuts, and corner to corner just a rough idea i f you grid the whole floor like my pic say 600 squares then lay the tiles in the squares 😛ete
