And..... (sorry to go on).....

Be sure to track your customers / enquiries / leaflets well. If you can point out on a map which area's got you first leads or enquiries, then which of those turned into customers, then which of those gave you the most profit or more customers or whatever you can try and work out what type of area's they are (what type of homeowner) and then find other similar area's.

You'll find county's that are hundreds of miles apart will still have the same types of area's and therefore common patterns in their lifestyle and spending.

Doing a leaflet drop in stages and collating the information for each 'run' will help you point out the right direction to go for your next spending on leaflets.

Good posts there Dan.

For the letter box drops i have done so far i find im getting between 0.5 - 1% call backs, but you do find some people will keep your card\leaflet for a long time before calling you anyway.

Would you say posting a card rather than a flyer is better ?

Dan, you wouldn't whack me up a a flyer would you ? I'll paypal you some beer tokens ?

pm if you can.

Thanks

grumpy would you post up a pic of your card just to see what style you have went for as its working for you ?

Thanks

cards all the way for me.....if you do car park drops, put the card between the window and the seal on the drivers door directly above the handle, 9 times out of 10 the card will be put in the car and not on the floor...Mark.

I got mine done professionally local. Do a Google Search, Yell.com, and in your actual yellow pages (as they're different advertisers I think) and get them all show you some of their previous work (they usually love showing you their work) and see what each includes, get the paper weight, size, type, style aswell as the design quality etc. If you're doing a big drop and using people that post the leaflets then I found it to be ok to use cheap thinish paper providing quality of the printing was good. And like I said, I'd be very bold with the design, and offer them to visit a professional looking website and perhaps request a more formal professional brochure / leaflet. This gets them enquiring when they MAY need tiling work and not just when they're ready. Then you can either mail-bomb them periodically or call them every now and again or if when you take the call you keep a customer book handy you can write down things you say when you're "chatting" and building up a rapport but you're actually writing down what you'll be asking them when you next call (making it feel like you know them - making you feel like their tiler perhaps).
