limestone floor

Hi Guys

I have been asked for a general quote for tiling Limestone to a 38m2 wooden kitchen floor. I'm assuming floor boards but could be wrong. I'm not after quote advice, sorry thats not clear, my question is about the substrate.

I realise i don't have much info, such as limestone type but i was wondering about the substrate if i take the job on, can i tile straight onto ply or does it require a waterproof course? and would i need expansion joints on a floor that size?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Be gentle, it's my first time

Unless you can come up with :

Type of limestone

Name of limestone

Thickness of tiles

Size of tiles

Substrate construction ( that is what boarding, current carcasing structure)

Heated / Un-heated

Then it would be foolish for anyone to give or for you to take advice on this job.

Find out what you are doing exactly then I'm sure other members will be eager to help you out.........

A movement joint through the floor? What about a perimeter expansion joint. There are not many domestic customers that want to see a joint in the floor and there are alternatives.

isnt mapei ac Silicon specd for movemeny joints? if so he could use a colour matching one would look fine

Every 5 mtrs in a Changing room as per the spec, car showrooms are 5 mtrs or have I been doing too much work?

:yikes:

Some architects soec the widths... but BS is 5 to 10 mtrs concrete dpending on conditions and perimeter and less if ufh is involved.. but as fixers we have to follow the spec of the architect as you know..lol..
