Doing my neighbours splashback, and her window has one of those louvre blind things.

Obviously I want to tile up the sides and along the top, but the blind bracket goes up hard to the wall (plastered), therefore by tiling I will need to cut the blind down.

can this be done with ease?, will there be any things I need to be aware of, I know this isnt strictly a tiling issue.!!

it is the long fabric blind type things not the horizontal venetian blinds.

Does it not push out anywhere?

They normal can push out just do it when she isnt looking

I bent the one in my sons bedroom!

it sounds like its fitted very tightly and if you tile the sides the blind may not work properly. Why not just finish at the front with a tile trim and let her paint the reveals.

Northern bird i'm not sure what you mean by pushing it out??

the blind comes off ok, its just there is only a few mm either side at the mo, not enough to tile behind.

I can see where you are coming from murf, the only thing is the wall runs into the window on the left side of the window i.e the wall is flush at that side, no reveal as such, so trim might look a bit weird there perhaps.

Some have a push back a few mm and then you can push in some of the plastic things (tech speak) on the side.

Dont know it might be the cheap one we have

you think so Chille?

I only want to trim an inch of it, I think the cutting down part will be easy but i'm unsure what effect the slack on the cord will have on the blinds function

sorry Northern bird, these blinds definately dont have anything to push back on them.

just fitted 2 of them for a customer ater tiling her bathroom
ther should be a plastic insert on either side of the blind
take 1 of them out and mark the material then cut it with a scissors when you get to the rod use an hacksaw
job done:thumbsup:

Yes I do. If you botch it and then don't get paid along with a load of bad mouthing then is it worth it? Its a fitted vertical and you are going to change the dimensions, so IMHO she needs a new one unless you are a vertical blind specialist, if not then get one in to alter it. In my house I might try and sort it myself but a paying customer. . . .no way, they may not pay. Give them sound professional advice its what I would expect if I took my car in for a service. Not oh well I thought I would try this I heard it might work :huh2: not professional in my eyes

I can of course fully understand where you are coming from Chille, and I appreciate your advice, but floydboy just explained what he did in this situation and tbh it is exactly what I was thinking of doing.

I get on well with my neighbour so i will put the ball in her court.

thanks
