The company I work for supplies us with 18v Makitas. I generally get through one every 6 months but they are very heavily used. Last time round I got them to get me the drill driver rather than the hammer drill so I wouldn't be tempted to use it instead of getting the Cordless SDS out. This one looks like lasting better.
It's horses for courses really. If you get the drill and start using it for loads of masonry drilling it's not going to last. Use it mainly on rotary only and don't overload it and it should be fine.
