No I haven't got a problem with customers who want to pay but only with customers who don't want to pay for their own bad selection of floor tiles that they had chosen.
That they have now changed their mind on after these floor tiles were fitted so you would have not problem with this then you can work for me if you don't like paying at the end of a job and I make up some excuse on your work if that's ok you can start tomorrow if you want.

Did you voice any opinion about the tiles when you first opened the boxes, looked at them, touched them, checked them for warping? or did you just start putting them down regardless of the problems? if the customer is not aware of these things they wont know anything about it until the job is finished and they take a look at the finished floor. If thats the case then it IS your fault as your the professional they employed to complete the job.

TBF he has said a few times that he laid them out in front of the customer to show the problem.

whether he should of refused to lay them is a different matter though
