A thank you and a heads up to anyone doing a similar task. Mapei renovation screed is top draw - whacked down 4 bags tonight and it's given me a lovely surface. Nice and easy to mix, apply and trowel out.

Thanks to everyone on here who has helped me out so far, just the tiling to do now! Which I'm most scared of :(
