Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while but i have a query.

Dot and dabbed Marmox boards yesterday, put the fixing dowels in today and they stick out a mile! Anybody else had this trouble?

Am gonna have trouble notching the addy over them now, using rectified porcelain as well.

Cheers, Jamie.

where they the spankers with the red pin in the center ?

if so then no never have a problem with them.

Yes they were, the other boards i fixed onto battens with washers and they were fine, but the spankers were protruding out a lot further, they just didnt pull in nicely like the washers do. It's only a 2m wall so i don't mind getting over it with a bit of dot and dabbing tomorrow but i wouldn't want to do a large area like that. It's really put me off using them again.

you have to hammer the dowel fully home and into the face of the board before you hammer the red pin home,

would go with a bigger trowel and a bit of back buttering rather than d and d mate.

i wouldnt try it mate, you will destroy the board etc etc

as a point of reference I only fit 20mm boards to walls with the d and d with spankers method, anything less is too thin

I would skim the wall with spf then tile once dried

Thanks for the advice, will remember that in future, i did use 10mm, will skim it tomorrow and do it properly from now on, you never stop learning eh?
