I've been finding recently that if I cut the nozzle REALLY cleanly at about 70degrees, I can apply it straight from the tube with no tooling / fingering / mucking about.

Otherwise it's finger and soapy water for me.

Finger and soapy water for me, all the way. One of my mates silicones for a living.. ALL DAY!?! He is seriously quick, neat, and even has a thumb nail cut to a certain shape to get the finish he requires!?!?! He's always used soapy water and finger, so if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me hehe!

i dunno if anybody her ehas one but everbuild make a great tool for cutting open Silicon tubes. its a few quid from tradetiler.com and saves so much time and hassle

i use soapy water and a Silicon blitz tool

ive never managed to do anything but a terrible job with my finger! i dont get it

does anybody here push the tube along as they Silicon? im sure ive read thats the way to do it but ive found it doesnt work for me

I worked in Germany a few yrs back on apt block and there where guys actually employed (professional mastic men) who followed the tilers around with there mastic guns and pocketfulls of lolliepop sticks. 1st class they were too hard to tell the diff between mastic an grout, every single corner an recess was hit, perfect every time and 1 tube seem to last for miles.
