metal substrate

hi there.been asked to tile around a gas fire background,which is of metal.do i prime first and if so,is there any specific ady+grout i use because of the heat??any advice please.

use flexible adhesive and grout ( wont need 2 part adhesive as gas fire will not omit a great deal of heat into the surround). and yes do prime first with acrylic primer.. dave..

The only adhesive I'm aware suitable for metal substrate is fastflex & liquid,says it on the bag,superflex wall grout

fast flex is brill but have you tried to get normal flexible off your trowel once it has dried, its stuck like s**t, i would use fast flex on shiny metal surfaces..
