Very nice, thankis for sharing.

In the metro b/r, i see you have lights in the recesses? Those are shower recesses. What do you have to take into account for that. Is it simply a special light fitting or is there more to it?
Also nice tile fit on verticals wall around the recesses, did you build it super precisely so you woulnt have to cut any for horizontal recess edges or was that SUPER lucky!?

Nothing special about the down lights as long as they are suitable for zone 1. Most shower down lights are rated ip65 as these were.
Whenever I do niches I initially make them extra big (just build the framework) then when you get to the stage of setting out you can finish the build to suit.

I do like a bit of wiggle room. I tend to do main structural works like that too so I can add on to it as I see how tiles lay. You can add but it’s a pain to take away.

ok, so you do the vertical frames, but leave the mid seciton noggins until you know where tiles will go. Then u inssert noggins, board and waterproof before continuing tiling?
And cutting a hole in tiles the size for light fittings,do you use a bit the correct size or how do you do that?

Yeah something like that. As acaciaguy says it's a lot easier to build it out than making it bigger so as long as you leave wriggle room it's all good.

If it falls in the middle of tile then yes use the correct sized bit. The holes in this job fell between tiles so used wet saw and tile file. Most important thing is to have the fittings to hand so you don't make the holes too big (you can always do a test hole on an off cut). If you haven't got the perfect sized bit to hand then go smaller, you can open up the holes later to get a nice snug fit.

Nothing apart from a high quality bathroom paint.
