mixing addy and grout?

I mix adhesives with a specific mixer, adjusting the consistency depending on floor as someone else said. I mix my grouts up with a drill and whisk (slowly). I started out a couple of years ago mixing and weighing quantities of powder and water, but found it was more frustrating and inaccurate than guesswork. What I have learnt is that very little water indeed is required if your grout is needing to be a bit wetter at the initial mixing stage. And always have some grout left in the bag incase you add too much water!

Always a tricky one !

Fact : the ratio of powder to water will have an effect upon the stability and colour of the grout !
If you get the ratio a little bit wrong then it should not be detrimental ! Especially when grouting a whole room in one go ! However ( dependant upon which make of grout you use ) If you are mixing multiple batches in one room you may get a slight colour variation.
With Mapei coloured grouts, getting the water to powder ratio incorrect can have quite drastic consequences.

Bang on m8! I had previous posts all about mapei grout and the reasons for having correct ratio, its on the site somewhere! As for mixing addy, most these days require paddle mixing cause of all the polymers etc in them. Mixing by hand is nowhere near good enough to properly ensure it does what it says on the bag.
