Just wondering what people do when they have to mix a second batch of adhesive. Is it necessary to completely clean the bucket prior to mixing the new batch, or will a quick scrape round the bottom with a bucket trowel suffice prior to the new stuff going in?

Also for grouting, does the bucket need to be spotless for each new batch of grout??

Cheers :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Spotless is best for grout at all times, when I do an adhesive mix I always clean the bucket out properly, this helps to stop any contamination from different batched adhesives and if you read the bag they always specify a clean bucket. I have had my big mixing buckets for years and they look as good as new, same as my drill whisk, it's as as good as new, its cleaned after every mix and soaked in concrete cleaner every month or so.

for me yesterdays brand new grouting bucket is todays adhesive bucket,
i always use a brand new bucket for grout!

as for adhesive i scrape out the bucket and mix again, at the end of the day i give them a wipe round with an old wooden handled brush.:thumbsup:

i'm too miserable to leave any adhesive in the bucket......:lol::lol::lol:
use it all then do another batch, only wash out after tea breaks
always a clean pail for grout though

Nice mapei mixing bucket used with mapei grout the grout is brilliant and comes off the bucket easy with water :thumbsup:

Mixing buckets are those flexible rubber buckets and I clean them best I can after each mix.

i mix grout and addy insame bucket mainly white clean out at end of day mix grout in same bucket next day :yikes:

Adhesive buckets I scrape in-between mixes otherwise the old adhesive sets in patches and there's nothing worse than trying to trowel and ending up with 'pebbles' in the mix. Grout is in a clean or cleaned out bucket.

iv'e never had any probs but then i don't us fast setting addy/grout:hurray::hurray::hurray:

I clean the bucket out well, make sure there is nothing in the bottom rim going off.
Tend to use the smae bucket for a month or so but wooner or later i mix too much and end up ditching the bucket with the extra to save cleaning it up.

I have a couple of stacks of used tubbed gear at home and just lift a spanking clean one. I clean them out when finished like new.
I also lift big old paint buckets, 18 inch tall, and store my mixer paddle in it inbetween mixes, put a couple of small stones, 2/3 full of water and a 30 second blast on full and its a clean as a whistle for the next mix. Get a fair build up of sediment over the day in the bottom, but again a quick blast before tipping it out and it all runs out. No bother:thumbsup:

Excellent idea, the stones and water in the bucket. Works with couple of bricks in cement mixer but never thought of cleaning my mixer that way.
