Guys,
Some of you know I asked for recommendations on a replacement blade for my Dewalt 2400.

On popular opinion I splashed out and went for the Monolit 250mm.
Today I changed it out with the new Monolit and I am very disappointed.
My initials concerns before purchasing have come back to haunt me.
I was concerned about the split rim, but assured it does not chip as I have had better cuts with other blades on tools with continuous rims.

It chips porclano tiles :nono:

I tried many cuts on the same tiles I have been working and tried various changes but same chipping. I was going to add pics, but bit deflated, so trust me.
I am sure this will cut ceramics well and last ages, but ceramics are nothing like porcelano, sorry porcelain.

The continuous Dewalt blade cut these hard tiles better worn. When it was new it cut very very clean.
I will now look for a continuous rimmed blade for sure.
You win some and you lose some, cest la vie

Dave, I know you have it and how pleased you are with it. That went toward me making the choice.

I am all over it looking as to why this is and as yet still cant see anything.
I will admit to one ricket :oops:the Dewalt d3236 is not continuous as stated. it has similar design to the Monolit, but smaller slits and the blade just 1.6mm.
I was looking at the Rubi and similar which are continuous. The slits are good for cooling, but with the water cooling I can´t see it as that necessary.

I will admit there is a vibration with this blade. I have changed the blade back after trying to clean it up withe the block and will see how it goes tomorrow.
I am at the stage of making cuts that show and until now only use a knife sharpening stone just to take the edge off and they looked great.

That is not a daft question Dave, it did nearly catch me out.
Yes it´s installed the right way, even took it off again to check that.

I also tried a shallow cut without cutting fully but it still chips.

Now this may be daft also, but my gut feeling is the blade is too rigid and the machine vibration is affecting the cut, where the more flexible blade gives.

Swapped the new Monolit back to the old DW3734 and now have a sound opinion on which blade is best for me.

The DW blade supplied from new did great job cutting Porcelain and I have made so many really clean cuts. Cut mitres on the Rodapie and well impressed.
As these tiles were so hard, the blade took its toll and a few attempts to sharpen it have not made much difference. It struggles and loads up the motor more than when it was new.

When replaced by the Monolit, the cut was nowhere near as clean with minute chipping to the cut each side. Not mega, but in comparison, not clean enough for an exposed finish cut.

The Monolit cost over 150 quid and not worth the premium to me or what I had expected. It does cut well and I will use it for hidden cuts under the rodapie etc.

The DW blade is being sold from 50 to 60 quid and will be ordering one soonest. I shall use this blade for all exposed cuts and mitres on the rodapie.
Maybe the Monolit is terrific on ceramics or easier material and I´m sure it will last ages.

For Porelain when you need clean cuts, the Dewalt blade knocks it into a ****ed hat (even worn) and it a third of the price.
