They come without a carrying case for a reason 🙂 They REALLY robust. You can use a hammer on the breaking handle if you want; it won't break. The small ones come with cases, but I think that's mostly for making them more comfy to carry and store.

Your welcome mate they just sit in the garage and only get an airing about once every few months. They really are robust the only problem as everyone has said they don't come with a case!

Im a convert to Montis from Rubi, blinking love my two. I got a masterpiuma 43 mainly for cutting mosaics as they have the drop down foot. I had a Rubi 600 and had problems breaking large format porcelain on it it felt as if the lever was going to bend and break. So I bought a 63, love it, feels so much sturdier.

i rate them as the best cutters...i know a get a bit of ribbing about sigma but i have owned a mini piuma, 63p and 93p so they are the same principle as sigma ie single rail cutter, tap/push down handle etc.
they are really light, well built and they break as clean as a whistle.

i prefer push cutters from 600mm onwards so they get my vote for that reason. i would use sigma too but i often go on about that secondry flip down breaker and the reason is this. it does seem to make a difference when cutting tiles diagonally. why? i dont really know, perhaps the power is hitting a smaller impact area so it breaks cleaner ? siramic haas mentioned that theres more to go wrong on a monti but i wouldnt go along with that. they are as solid as a rock and they were making tile cutters long before sigma were, infact, sigma followed thier principle of cutters 😛rrr:

the one thing that is a pain is the visibility. i know you can line the pencil mark up on the alloy spine and in line with the zero but you still have to look over sometimes to be bang on whereas rubi allow a much clearer view....the best way i can describe it is this. the rubi is a right hand drive bmw m3, the montolit is a left hand drive ferrari. the ferrari is the better, faster car but in this country, the right hand view matters more and if theres enough power and performance, why worry that much

if your happy with what you've got and it works fine, then why change a winning formula? hope this helps the debate

I have been toying with which one I am going to get for ages now Rubi, Sigma, Monti and a few other makes have been mentioned.

I think the p2 63 is the one for me after this thread. Is the visability any better on the Sigmas??

Aston hit the nail on the head , the sigmas are great but i prefer my montolit mp 75 to a similar or bigger siggy , i love my siggy that cuts up to 530 but prefer the monty on larger tiles, how do i know? was working with my bro in law on a big job , 600x300 porcs he had his sigma 93 set up and i had my monty ,tried the sigma at various times nothing wrong cut well but i felt the monty was the better cutter to use..
