Mosaic

Can't see that working for me. But the dog tooth will work around pips if you are using rapid set to biuld out you can leve it proud around the pips and just as it is on the turn you can scrape it back flush. No need to revisit and not really that messy. Just out of quriosity how would you ensure the adhesive is applied to exactly the same depth so you don't get any lipping and surly a day later the adhesive will still be green how do you stop it from just braking up and crumbling away?

You would think that but surprisingly they do keep fairly rigid enough for you to work on. This method is best for these situations but if the mosaic area needs building out substantially then dog tooth is best. Try it Deano. I've never had any issues with lipping.

I must say I tried this method Charlie and I could not control how much adhesive bled through to the other side. It also left me in strife with mosaics that were out of line (the odd one or two)
Dog tooth here or 4mm Mamox boards. I like to offer the customer the option to have the mosaics slightly proud as it looks nice with right sheets.

Yercam, I use it for isolated areas around pipes but if you need to build out too much then you will be in bother but I find it works well for me.

As I said I will give that one a miss it is not a method I will be taking serially. I have done one or to Jobs with mosaic tiles and I have never found myself in a situation where I would need to use this method but if it is working for you then that's all that matters.

I used to do the heating on private pools, the lads who tiled the pools used to mix a very watery grout and apply a very thin amount to the Back of the mosaic the day before tiling ( hundreds of sheets) they were fairly solid, but would bend if needed.
this was only done on the mosaics that were to be laid on the sides or bottom.

seemed to work for them.

I hate mosaic they are just fiddly lol, yes they look good but make a job so much more time consuming. Just did a bathroom and they kept deciding they wanted more mosaic fitting! It went from between the tiles to a border and two strips in the shower and the customer thought it would be easy to do, no!

My advice to the OP would be build it out with any of the methods mentioned here (dog tooth or boarding) but when you fit them dont press two hard or you will spend most of your time digging out adhesive

Just bumping some of the older popular (sometimes not so popular) threads. Probably wont be current discussion these days but I just need to do it. So just ignore the thread if it's not current for you.
