Water disaster!!! Why is it a £10 watch is waterproof but a modern piece of tech worth hundreds just needs a little dip to waste it?

Because you can make a watch water tight but a phone has too many connection points, and then of course the speaker and microphone could never really be covered well. The JCB phones and the likes are the most resistant and they've worked on the connections and speaker etc.

An iphone will probably never be water resistant let alone water proof!

Unlucky mate. I'd say their insurance is worth it but for the price you pay you can buy a new iphone every year.

nah you're probably right. I'd stick it on the radiator for ages but not on really high.

Problem is there are so many parts inside that will now rust/tarnish. So if it did work in a couple of days time, in a week or two's time it'll start playing up again no doubt.

Thanks for that, Dan. Obvious when you think of it. I know a plumber keeps his in a sealed poly bag for these very incidents. Apparently it works :lol: I think there is a gap in the market here

its actually started working again , only prob now is , its stuck in headphone mode so i cant talk to any one , touch wood it might dry out some more

Stick it in the airing cupboard, it won't get too much direct heat in there like it would ontop of a radiator. Make sure its turned off aswell.

Dropped mine in a bucket of water last year and I've never moved so quick to get it out. I turned it off , took sim card out ( it was a 3gs) then stood it upright in the tank cupboard. Next day I used a hair dryer pointed through docking port on low for around 20 mins and it worked a treat, never been so happy. 4 days later my daughter put it in the washing machine because she thought it was dirty. The phone was totally gooses, so claimed a new one off the house insurance for accidental damage.

Good thing about an iPhone is all your contacts are synced with your address book on your computer so you never loose them.

Not like the guy i working with last year...He was in a porta loo having a wee and sending a text and dropped it down the pan...he put his hand in and got it out...must of been important!!!
