Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

We will just have to see now stef whats done is done im doing the hallway wd so will advise to use a thicker ply. Thanks for the advise people as always its appreciated

Why use ply?, fix the substrate & use Hardie 250 (6mm) then there's no height issue & it will work out cheaper than ply.
I would always opt for a cement board or similar over ply any day..

Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

How much is 6mm hardi stef?... i thought it was much more expensive than ply mate?. Cheers

Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

I cant beleive that ive just looked on topps website its just a couple of quid more expensive i looked on a website a few months back and it was sayin something like £36 for one sheet! I just cant beleive it .

Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

And i wanted to fix the chipboard down to the joists but its something i dont know how to do wish i did. Dont know how to find the joists or would you just follow the joints?... only issue with doing that i think would be maybe hitting a pipe tho.

Floors will prob be in at 600 centres, look for a line of nails along the centre of the sheet & that's the joist.
Normally there should be minimum bounce on the floor & overboard with 6mm Hardie, glued & screwed, it's not always the case..

Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

I think if you make sure its fully primed and screwed down well and not used in an area where there is moisture it 'might' do the job. I wouldn't risk it imho but thats my view.

Re: Naughty Dot & Dab!

I searched the net before ali looking for the price of hardi boards and the first price i came across was either exactly or not far from £36 after that didnt search the price again. Will deffinately be using this in the future for a tiling surface.
