Hi all

First time on this forum but what I have read so far is great

I am a plumber and a customer has asked me to revamp their bathroom by removing and replacing the grout/sealant (approx 8sq mtr) Any advice as to best way to remove the grout, what to replace it with & roughly how much you would charge would be a great help
Thanks

1. inexpensive grout rake.
2. expensive fein tool and expensive cutting blades.
3. sealant can be removed with a stanly blade....unless its an acrylic bath! then you need a Silicon eater!

grout rakes are good for soft grout (non flexi)
fein is good for the whole job......but they are not cheap!

Sometimes use a stanley blade to clean off the remaining Silicon off the tiles and the bath, carefully.

Try a grout cleaner first 'cos removing grout is a right pain. Customer was expecting me to regrout a shower today for 20 quid !!!!!!!!! (A good days work!!)

Fein cutter is obviously the best and easiest way or your job, but a totally unjustified capital outlay for just one job:yikes:Unless you can find somewhere that hires them out:thumbsup:

plus a fein blade is 2.2mm thick, only good for 3mm gap, think bosch ones are 1.9 but don't quote me

look like thruppeny bits in no time[/QUOTE]

What's a thruppenny bit?
Try cleaning the grout with white CIF and a scrubbing brush.
