Went round to measure a job up before, nice big bathroom and a nice earner. Little problem with the bath though, it is about 2" away from the walls. At the moment there are curved border tiles around the bath to conceal the gap (pulled 2 off by just using my hands). However the bloke doesn't want a border around the bath he just wants wall tiles on. How the heck am i supposed to make up 2" with a tile? any suggestions?

To be honest mate I think I would tell him he would have to get the bath moved. Some of the more experienced guys might be able to suggest something but short of putting a backer board covering the whole wall I can't think of anything else

I would tell him that, with bath where it is you cannot attain a decent finish.....after all is said and done ..you can't polish a turd....Gaz

Just had a flash of inspiration whilst in my own bathroom. Try and get a baton about 1 3/4" thick and secure it to the wall. Use strong wood glue. Once it is set and solid you should be able to tile onto it and create a narrow shelf or ledge.

hi penno mate...If the bath can't be moved back to the wall, then tile the wall and then fit one of these bath trims and it will flexi with the bath and make a neat finish and seal ......dave..

Don't know if this was sorted.... if you come across something like this again, have a look down the gap, if its clear to the floor, make a 'batten' frame the same height as bottom of the bottom tile, same length as the gap, liberally cover the bottom of the frame in sealant/mastic/addy and drop it in, seal the edge to the bath and it should be ok.🙂 if brackets are in the way....make more than one frame.
