thanks again guys,iam going to go with a uncoupling membrane it seems a much better soluction then the cement boards,stablizes the floor,its water proof and only 3 mm thick ,it answers all my problems and is cheap too

cement boards will be retail about 39 pounds,the matting is 45 pounds so the boards work out cheaper.

the matting to be fixed to a chipboard substrate will need a high spec adhesive costing more money


cement boards and a good flexi addy will do the job for you no probs rossco

i have tiled onto chipboard once,i had to use a high spec adhesive to do it and the cost of that adhesive and also grout with a gt1 admix to ensure no failures cost more than overboarding with cement boards would have so in my eyes it was pointless bit its what the customer wanted
