Hi I'm John i've been a keen DIYer for over 40 years Always do my own plumbing decorating tiling etc.
I'm now fitting a new ensuite and the shower is one thing I have never done before so will need some help please.
Just about to fit the shower tray walls in the ensuite are all skimmed plasterboard.
Checked the tray for level and leakage it's fine next job to fit the versatile seal strip.
Is it advisable to seal all round the tray before putting on the strip?

:welcome:John.

Personally I've never used a versatile seal strip in 35 years!
The only time I come accross them is when I have to remove the tiles and seal strip to repair the walls and tiling.
No doubt someone will reply with the correct method of fixing (other than plenty of Silicon to all surfaces).
In my experience the seals either move/rot/leak and the fixing of tiles in shower areas today tend to go down the route of waterproof tanking and Silicon sealant.

Hello and welcome....

Not a fan of those type of strips john...plus a Silicon finish is a lot neater IMHO.

How often is the shower going to be used....? because you might want to think about waterproofing the walls prior to tiling..
You can do this with either a solution tanking kit or a waterproof membrane , which i think is the better option and the way forward with tanking..

It is easy to apply , watch this video and it will show you what to do..

the products in the video can be purchased here>>>>>> Wetdecs wet room supplier, wet room shower tray, tanking. waterproofing from leading wetroom company.

Now waiting for delivery of my waterproofing kit made by Dunlop. Hope to apply today and ready to tile tommorrow in the mean time I'm tiling the other walls away from the shower.
Thanks all for your help......may need some more when I come to put the enclosure in(not done one before) although I'm fine with the pan and basin
