Thanks folks - ended up with a bagged adhesive instead - techno fix or something. The grout is bagged too - BAL Microflex? maybe. I'm assuming the consistency of the adhesive should be a bit like plaster, a bit stiffer maybe?

P.S. Removing paint from plaster is a right old pain... that's where I've been for two days:smilewinkgrin:

Never heard of techno fix myself but if it is bagged gear then i'm sure it will be cement based and fine for what you require. As for BAL Microflex, this i have used and it is top stuff, has a built in admixture for flexibility and microban protection against bacteria and mould. As for the consistency i would mix them to a thick smooth paste so that when you hold your mixing tool up it is sliding very slowly, not dripping off.
