hi all , i am new here , hoping to learn a lot , i am a mason by trade block/brick/stone.

i have done a few tiling jobs , i believe your trade and mine share mainly the same skill sets,

i am doing a job at the moment , kitchen was 600 square porcelain tiles which went fine.
but i am having major probs in the hall , 450 square porcelain tiles diagonal bond with 100mm*100 diamond mosaics thrown in for fun.

my problem is the hall is very off square and i can not safely Parallel off any of the walls , so what is the best way and point to start this job from, so i can get a straight line on my mosaics down the hall.

i know the cuts will vary as the hall goes on as it is so off square but i must get those mosaics straight ,

any advise much appreciated

Hi, welcome to the forums.

If you search around the site you might find what your looking for but there are plenty of people who will give you good advice.

one thing i would say for starters is obviously dont work off the walls esp if they are out.
set your focal point down the hall and set your key tile and a straight, square line to look at and go from there

Personally I would use my eye line for marking out, the mosaic are they actually against the wall or are they about 6" away from it

Hi & welcome.

I'm struggling to picture this.

When you say the mosaics need to be straight, do you mean just 1 straight line down the middle of the hall, or are you talking about using the mosaics to frame the main field tiles?
